Bidding services
 

I’ve been using a bidding service to place my bids for a few years. I can say that I’m unhappy with the results a majority of the time....can anyone suggest a paid service that seems to work well? I know this can be VERY subjective, but I’d just like to try another service.....I don’t have the will or time to sit down and learn this system. I’m thinking perhaps a current Delta pilot may be a good person to give me an opinion on how my existing bids have been placed and how I can improve. I’m moving up in seniority, and my schedules are getting worse. Partly attributed to line construction my category and base, but when I see junior dudes with better schedules....well, you can probably guess how that makes me feel....

Find someone who has a schedule you like and go look at their reasons (composite) report, and see how they bid. The system is not all that hard to figure out and is fairly logical when you take a few minutes to learn it...you can easily figure it out on a few crappy overnights.

For some dumb reason the powers that be decided to remove all the PBS help videos from youtube. They did upload a few of them onto deltanet, but not the really good ones. Hopefully they'll come to their senses and put up the good videos.

I love seeing senior bidders with worse schedules than me :D

Pardon me for being presumptuous in thinking this might help, but this might help.
Think about bidding as if you walked into a hardware store to get, well, hardware. There is only one of everything there.
You could go in and say, “I want a stainless steel pan head slotted screw with 1/4-20 threads that is 1-1/4” long.” If it is still there, you can get that. But if someone senior already got it because they were allowed in the store first, you’re screwing your self out of your good screw. That’s like having “award” lines on your schedule.
While you can still ask for that specific screw, it is better to follow up your screw request with “I surely don’t want washers. Nor do I want rivets. Not do I want nuts.” Etc etc etc. The clerk then filters out all those hardware pieces you do not want and consider useless. That is the purpose of the “avoid” function. After that, you can ask for specific or at least acceptable screws.
If you go about hardware shopping that way, your favorite screw might not be there when it is your turn in the store, but at least you’re not getting screwed with those nuts you despise.

PBS Bidding Strategies works pretty well for me, I’m fairly junior in category and get what I need/want for the most part. No real complaints at my seniority level and time spent not analyzing PBS.

Holy crap, $60/month to bid!? I need to start up a side business.

Can you tell us what service you're using now?

I emailed this guy several days ago and I never heard back from him.
