That does not answer any of my questions. To me, his comment is just stating the obvious, since the amendable date is not until 31Dec.

Or has it been common in the past to get a contract signed before this date? Historically, when have negotiations started?
Bastian was asked, during a conference with investors, if he thought there would be a deal with ALPA this year. He gave an honest answer. The amendable date is the end of the year. We are telegraphing we want everything and will not be rushed. If Ed had said we would have deal this year, I would thought he was not paying attention.

I’m not impatient for a deal. As I’ve already stated, I’ll give this MEC the time that is required to get a TA as long as it doesn’t pit one subgroup of Delta pilots against another. Talk about lack of unity if that happens. If it isn’t a grand slam to match the rhetoric, I don’t see how they can hold on to power. I simply believe they are backing themselves into a corner with unnecessary hyperbole that could epically backfire if they can’t deliver further eroding faith in our union.

Go to one single day of an MEC meeting. Talk with all the reps and the 3 negotiators. Incredible people making huge sacrifices to further our profession.

Then come back here and share your take after meeting them.

The sad and pathetic old guard constantly spews nonsense to divide the group and help management.

I’m never asking you to believe a word I say, I’m asking you to meet the selfless leaders you are criticizing.

I’m not criticizing the MEC. I’m criticizing their staunchest, loudest supporters who present their opinion as fact. That’s you in a nutshell.

I am glad to hear you have been accommodated so well. Let's be honest... management DOES owe you a big one for all their water you carry! ;-)

I don't know folks who have missed these once in a lifetime occasions, but I know plenty of the other side (whom I mentioned) who reluctantly sit out AEs when such events are on their calendar ahead. I don't have anywhere near the experience you have at Delta. That means you've surely heard significantly more anecdotes than I have of the CPO coming up short... and I hear it all the time. I don't trust the CPO to come through for anything other than an immediate-family fatality, so that's not saying much. They've already shown their hand in my own personal experiences; I shouldn't have to rely on their good graces or otherwise roll the bones on what they will or won't do for me when I get into a pickle. And none of us should expect or demand special handling that isn't consistent and universal across the seniority list.

By codifying better short- and long-term schedule control into the PWA, we can lift all boats. We have the profitability to support even "costly" schedule-influencing for more consistent control of our work obligations.

Let's improve IQ (golden days) and bring back four days of paid APD!

I would be curious to see what the outcome of our next PWA would be if we just went silent on social media, did surveys, participated in phone polling, and emailed our reps. Delta executives don’t have a message board, nor do they tell Wall Street what they want from us.

Meanwhile we have thousands of pilots on a dozen different media platforms from this site, to Facebook, to the chit chat forum airing our dirty laundry. Talking about every want and desire we have, and then we have others chiming in saying “we will never get that.”

Once a contract is presented to us, then use social media to discuss. We are our own worst enemies when it comes to this stuff. For those of you who have ever negotiated you probably get what I am saying. I helped negotiate a contract at my former employer (ALPA carrier) and the company literally came armed with posts from forums, Facebook, etc.

It was tough to refute some of the things they wanted when they came armed with hundreds of sources stating they don’t care about ____.

In the mean time you could use this site to speculate about AE’s, what vase is getting what flying, what the company is doing with their New Jersey gas station, etc. Then when a PWA is presented to us, we discuss. Just a thought.

Yes me. I missed my first upgrade to Captain at DAL because after talking to my CP and the training guys I was told they could not guarantee me 1 day off 6 months in the future for my daughters graduation so I pulled my bid and plenty of junior folks got in.

Oh yeah, I am pretty sure that I am not unique in this.

I have a guarantee, it’s called the PWA. It says how my employer will handle my employment. The discussion is about improving that guarantee.

Stop dumping on your coworkers that are suggesting ways to improve QOL at work. There are a lot of ideas and they should be considered. Try considering what you would like to see improved and then provide that to the union so they know what issues are important to the pilot group.

Let’s get an improved contract for the group. Let’s also get teeth in it to put an end to the company's violations.
