Gender over ability

This is what we've become...

https://www.foxnews.com/travel/delta-air-lines-passengers-delighted-to-learn-pilots-were-a-mother-daughter-team.amp

I'm sure gender nor the fact they were family had anything to do with getting hired by Delta...

And the fact this makes news.... Even sadder.

Brillo 03-23-2019 05:47 PM

Can we see the data backing up your claim of lack of ability?

Sorry that this triggered you and you felt the need to post here about it. Might be better served to bring up with your therapist though.

Well I can see why you didn't get hired!

(And it has nothing to do with gender)

FollowMe 03-23-2019 05:58 PM

Hahahahahahahahaha, wait wait wait. Is this really coming from the guy who called the Denver police because a fellow pilot sent him a letter? My goodness, the world is a very scary place for you, isn’t it?

My gender had everything to do with it. I'd like to see the percentage of rejections of true biological male vs. female. Guaranteed, males are rejected at higher rate.

A legit report, and I stand by it.

We got it, you are just a poor victim. Everyone is out to get you Todd.

Perhaps that would be because two white males flying together isn’t all that much of a surprise Todd. In a profession that is dominated by one group, it is nice to see the demographic scope opening up.

Here’s another newsflash for you, women can fly airplanes. Other minority groups as well. If they were hired over you it’s because they are better pilots than you, or perhaps based on your behavioral patterns a more professional fit for the organization.

Remember that old line, the only thing all of your failed relationships have in common is you.

Dude, life’s too short to try and constantly be offended by stuff. Build an airplane, go fishing, take up golf. Do something.

Might also go a long way toward you actually seeing a real pair of “joker lips” one day, besides watching Batman.

Entirely possible. Hope so at least, can people really be this dense in this career still? (wait, don't answer that) :D

My last response got me an infraction... But I think we can all agree that certain candidates have quite an adVantage...

You deserved an infraction. Glad the mods were active here. I still can’t believe you wrote that in public.

No, actually I think I can. Keyboard anonymity creates all kinds of internet toughs and abhorrent trolls.

tell that to two of my friends, both female, who have both been rejected by Delta. Tell them

My response also got swept up with the cleanup. Let me reiterate, women and other minority groups can indeed fly airplanes. If they got hired over you it is because they are better pilots, or more likely because their attitudes better fit the organization than does yours.

Try being less focused on what “everyone else got” and more focused on what you can bring to the table. I promise you will be pleasantly surprised at the results.

Yeah, you're right I'm just a lowly FO

Why you all defensive? In the ad she was FO.

OOfff 03-23-2019 09:19 PM

If only there was a place in aviation for men 😫

DARR31 03-23-2019 09:43 PM

Not defending the poster, but I am getting tired of these type of stories. Since 2003 in the AF Res, my squadron had a “chick crew” and it was a novelty then. During a deployment, for a month I filled in for one for the members of the “chick crew” and learned a lot, good and bad. As my wife has told me, all women in an office do not always work well together. That can go for any group.

BL: We need to stop getting caught up in any of the stories posted here. Dad and son, mom and daughter, dad and daughter, all I can say is good for you and I hope there were no family issues while in the cockpit. Good PR, but is it good overall?

Fly safe!

Karnak 03-24-2019 02:47 AM

Not part of the gender discussion, but I've worked with Wendy for a long time, and I'd give extra credit to any of her offspring. Good pilot, good person.

Met her daughters when they were toddlers. Feeling old, but pleased right now.

Jaww 03-24-2019 02:51 AM

I went through indoc with Kelly and met her whole family. Class act all the way around. I’m sure our whole class has similar words.

I always find these stories cool no matter the gender. I wish one of my family members was a Delta pilot so I could have the same opportunity.

Well played.

Whatever happened to the regional guy who send video resumes to SW because he wanted to fly with his dad before he retired?

Women get the interview calls first. Not always the job. But they get the calls first.

Prove it. No anecdotes.

It’s a forum. Respect my observations. What Todd Chavez and Shy guy may be saying is the “girl power” may be being laid on a little too strong right now all over the place! Movies/tv/you name it. *oh boy am I going to hear it now*. :)

No. I will respect your posts but not your observations. Maybe if you pull some of these females or minority pilots aside you’ll simply find they worked twice as hard as other interview invites to get there as the deck was stacked against them. Reference the attitudes on this thread.

But, if you failed to dig deeper, I can see where you would make this conclusions.

Why is it that the tough guys are always the weakest pilots?

This ^^^ excatly.
50% of the workforce should be female and it’s not.

Trip7 03-24-2019 06:33 AM

This was an excellent story and great promotion of the Delta brand. They have the most incredible aviation family I've ever heard of. FO is married to a Delta pilot and her sister is a Delta pilot. All three went to the regionals, built their time, upgraded, hired at 25 or under at Delta and will retire in top 10. Mom obviously a Delta pilot and Dad is a WB Capt at AA I think. Very accomplished family and best wishes to all of them

I was the first person hired by Delta post 2001. White dude. No females interviewed that first day either. There was 1 the next. That doesn’t bode well for your assertion.
