Application and resume prep...

$300 for another pilot to spell check your printed application? Does anyone honestly think their application is not being pulled because a typo or missplaced period? Could a guy just find a few friends to give it a once over? Maybe a gal at the library, or your local college career center?....this smells just like the pay for SIC seat time flying freight a few years back.
Cover letter and resume, yeah I could see the value in that.

Cover letter and resume aren’t used any more...no place for them on airline apps....application, addendum, and letters of Rec (submitted electronically direct entry to website, not scanned).
It’s a different app ballgame these days.

Emerald Coast is OK but there are better places out there. When I used them they were big on canned answers. That's good for your "about-me" speech (if you tend to ramble it really helps) but not good for the rest of the interview.
At a job fair I heard from more than one recruiter (multiple airlines) that they didn't want to hear Emerald Coast answers...they'd already heard 100 guys use their answers, they wanted to hear your answer.
RST & Aero Crew Solutions are some others to look into.

I used Emerald Coast in 2014 and it was worth every single penny. And, you are a customer for life with them. For example, if you have a future interview for Management Pilot or SLI, you can call them back up and get a tune-up at no additional cost (at least, that's what Albie said at the time).
The thing they try to teach you is a strategy on how to use YOUR experience, not give a canned answer. YMMV.

2018 hire, I used Checked and Set for my app review using John Brennan. Definitely more than just a "spell check," really helped highlight some things on my application and about my life that I never really thought could be viewed positively. Delta being one of the few, if not the only airline that uses human eyes to score your application, I would put in as much effort as possible.
I also used ECIC and had zero regrets. They cautioned me about the canned answers. As long as you are using YOUR stories I don't really see how your answers can be canned. felt very well prepared on the day of the interview.

Emerald Coast is great. They do provide examples of different stories, but they are examples. If you use those, then you will have issues.
I had to polish my intro and they helped me big time. They also helped me to get my times down and do different introductions depending on the escenario. “Talk to us from Highschoom to today”, “talk to us from college to today”, “tell us about you“, etc.
If you use the canned answers, you will fail the interview. Same as Job Fairs, if you meet someone, engage them, ask questions and be interested in the job. If you just give them your resume, answer their questions vaguely and don’t engage, don’t expect great results.
Getting the interview is a job on top of your current job. Preparing for the interview, it should be as intense as getting a new type.
