Looks like 2021 JFK/BOS - London (no specific airport). Optioning the A321LR for the route. Interested to see more details on the service.

It will be interesting to see how the competition plays out.. No other carrier has forced DL to up its game more than JB.

I'm guessing we're going to directly compete, using the same airplane. We've got A321neo on order, and people say the first 20 will be ETOPS. We're already announced service starting I think this summer.

Don't have the jet...

Don't have the ETOPS cert...

Don't have an actual UK airport....

B6 pilots be like, Yay for us! We are int'l pilots, just like Delta and BA!

Two years heads up for the competition to crush....

While everyone is talking A-321XLR, another option is the A220-100/300 with service to London City.

I obviously don't know the financials, but BA currently uses A-318 with 36 business seats but they have to stop for fuel in Shannon.

Bombardier demo'd a CS-100 LCY to JFK with a representative 42 seat load and they went non-stop.

I'm sure jetBlue could be looking an the -300 with all mint layout as a possibility...maybe as a secondary plan if the LHR slots don't work out.

If JB wants to get into the NYC/UK market, who is their market?

Their Mint service on RJs that have to make fuel stops? Biz travelers want stop overs?

Or is JB trying to attract low fare leisure travelers? Will they even tolerate stop overs?

WOW is done, NAI struggles... low fare across the Atlantic has repeatedly failed since freddie laker..

But Jetblue is gonna be new?

jetBlue currently only has Mint service on certain A-321's (not RJ's) that basically only do transcons.

Airbus is saying the new A-321XLR (3 extra center tanks) will have 4,500nm range.

See my article above about the A-220 100/300 making that trip non-stop (albeit with a much smaller, non-coach seat layout).

All of this Jet Blue narrow body Atlantic flying brings up an interesting point, Deltas narrow body Scope language with regards to our Virgin Atlantic (VA) friends.

Just in case everyone is not aware, our language with VA has a giant loophole in it. If VA were to acquire narrow body planes, they could fly as many of them as they like across the pond. Don't forget, Delta owns 49% of Virgin................

They went nonstop under perfect conditions. Not going to work for routine airline ops. It was a publicity stunt.

Still not answering questions...

When has a NB fleet type in routine airline operations been successful?

When has a low cost carrier been successful flying the Atlantic.

LHR is expensive wrt to taxes to operate out of.. not sure its a leisure destination... sure people want cheap airfare but they don't want to land in some satellite airport and pay just as much in ground transportation they did in airfare just to get to downtown London... a prime example is NAI.

What am I missing here...
