"It already has plans to replace its last 79 MD-88s by the end of 2020, but with more than 160 new narrowbody jets set to arrive between now and 2021, Delta should be able to retire its last MD-90s by sometime in mid-to-late 2021, if not earlier."

... accelerating aircraft retirements doesn't in itself favor the pilot group. Are we accelerating aircraft purchases one for one?

I’ll join you, S3A does do much when those maineline S2’s check in 5 minutes before boarding starts. Maybe they will keep the lemon cookies for desert.

Mgmt isnt going to reduce capacity so id guess the advanced retirement dovetails with expected and erly deliveries.

Unless deltas aircraft shoppers have found some available free agents.

Like 737-8 max cancellations.

Allegedly some who were at the Flight Standards meetings today were told the 90s will be around until 2023 and the 88s into 2021.

Also, I’ve got strong confirmation another Airbus order is all but a given soon. My source wasn’t sure if it’s NB or WB but they were sure it's an add on order and not exercising options.

Take the above based on its low, low price of free.

Up gauging allows for capacity increases while not increasing pilot requirements. That doesn't mean it's bad or that there won't be increases, just not as much as if we were adding air frames of the same size. However, we are adding back to mainline what was once connection flying so overall I'd bet it's close to a wash.
