Default Question about trip coverage

Can crew scheduling skip over me if I’m not qualified to fly into a special airport? IE, a trip was awarded to MEX tomorrow. I’ve never been checked out by an LCA to go there. Can they just skip over me and go to the next guy?

Thanks

Yes, if MEX requires a LCA for your first entry and you haven't done it, you are unqualified.

I'm guessing they tried to find an LCA but couldn't.

If you need a checkout, it has to be on your schedule 96 hours prior to report for you to be awarded the trip. I went around with scheduling on a trip that didn’t need a LCA until the 4th day of a 5 day, but the contract says 96 hours prior to trip report.

Ok thank you both for the answers. I figured this was the case.

Just to make sure...does this only apply
for CAs? I’m going to MEX next month, looking forward for it.

Pretty sure FOs don’t need a check out. The only FO qual I know of is Juneau, which is a sim ride.

That feeling will be short-lived. MEX is a dangerous place with earthquakes, traffic, poverty, and low air quality. Enjoy.

It’s won’t be short lived. I have a good friend that lives there and will take me out all day.

Traffic? Have you ever been to NY, ATL, LA?
Poverty? Again, have you’ve been to LA?
Air Quality? Again, have you’ve been in NY?

I’m also a Spanish speaker, so I won’t get killed by ATC. =D
