Default Bank

The ALV this month was 74 for my equipment and seat. I have about 79 hours for the month, I’d like to put the overage into my bank. When I go to make the deposit it says nothing available to deposit and monthly shortage is 1:30. What am I missing? Is it because my last trip of the month isn’t closed yet?

You can only deposit credit over 80.

Shoulda quoted the PWA. Section 12.N.3.A

A pilot may deposit into his bank account up to 20 hours of credit that is accumulated in excess of 80 hours in such bid period.

Any particular reason for the 80 hour rule?

No idea. My guess is that the company wants to provide an incentive to work >80 at single pay. Note that you can’t deposit GS or reroute pay. Only credit, so scheduled line or reserve flying or white slip. You could rack up 150 hours of pay and still be eligible to save 0.0 in the bank if it was all GS and IA pay.

This is bull. I mean, you are correct... but it's stupid. Help the company out for their short game and you can't use any of it to hit the trigger the following month?! Green slips aren't nearly the good deal most people think they are.

And that would be a glorious month. Sadly, I don't have the energy for rolling thunder in NYC.

Educate me, please (mean this, not picking a forum argument).

I see the GS as a 100% premium. The bank is a 75% premium if I save it to upgrade, otherwise the ROI is lower. Why work for single pay plus a little (bank return) if a green slip pays me double now?

Sometimes (especially if junior), you can’t get the GS, but you can get a WS or swap board.
