Payback day usage

I’m trying to find this in the SRH but can’t remember how it works.

If you have multiple payback days can you use them one at a time to sniper the first day of multiple trips or do they all go onto a trip based on length, For example...say you haven five PB days, can you bid 5 trips with an 8 hour first day and use those five day to drop those trips or can you only drop 3 of the trips?

Not sure I understand. Pretty sure the first thing is to drop the trip (PD, APD, etc). Once you drop the trip you can put PB over whichever days you wish.

But I do not think you can drop a trip just because you have PB days.

if you have 3 PB days and its a 4 day trip it will use all 3 PB days. You cant just use 1 if you have multiple and its greater than a 1 day trip.

Pretty sure you can use the PB days one at a time. However, when you use PB days, they are not like a APD or IVD. The coverage has to be positive.

Edited to say I was wrong. Just looked at PCS and looks like you drop the whole trip and then it’s applied against your PB day balance.

Using Payback Days, if you have any, to drop a trip has its own template in PCS. Long gone are the days of doing a PD and then having to call scheduling to have your PB days applied. During January-March when payback days are migrated to be additional vacation days for the following year, you do have to call to get them put back as payback days of you want to use them to drop something.

The application of the days is automated. If you drop a 5 day trip via the Payback Day template in PCS, it will take 5 of your payback days to cover the pay for those days or it will take all of the payback days you have remaining and pay you for the days that they cover starting with day 1 of the trip.

Well we have some that say yes and some that say no.

If you go by the SRH (at least the last time I looked at it) the answer would be no and dropping the trip would use all your PB days up to the total of the trip. BUT, I’ve flown with a guy who has dropped the trip with PB days and then called CS and told them he only wants to us 1 PB day......and they have done it! You will have to call CS and maybe end up talking to a supervisor to get it done.

I haven’t had any PB days lately to check it out.

I used to use 1 payback day all the time. CS says this was a change in the last contract and we can no longer use them that way.

it did not change. you just happened to get schedulers that made a special deal for you.

Do you have to call scheduling if you need to use an APD along to effect the drop (with use of Payback days)?

I’m pretty sure you can’t use PB days on an APD.
