I believe they have been saying 8K retirements over the next 10 years, not 5.

Never heard growing to 20K pilots...interesting!

Fwiw it's more like 6k mandatory through 2028. At least that's what ALPA is showing. That 8k number was used by pilot recruiting with "we will need to hire 8,000 pilots over the next decade". According to my public education math that'd leave around 16k pilots. Probably less with early outs, the continued credit reduction efforts, fleet upgauging and reduction in fleet types.

That seems extremely high. As in off by at least double, maybe triple or more.

...and we should be at 20k pilots by then
LOL yeah OK. Zero chance of that, unless we're talking a global seniority list with all our code team partners or something.

That is a lie. Max retirements in 1 year is less than 900 pilots. Guessing more like 4000-4500 pilots in 5 years. Half your estimate.

Most guys will go early because they have saved enough despite BK..
we are getting 25 a350s and ALOT of 330neos as well as 321s
I expect we will a order of about 300 797s in 2025 so 20 k pilots
is not unrealistic...Combine that with your 10mil 401k and PS of 75k for 30 years the future is good..When these old guys leave we can sit as widebody capt for 30 years or more..
