No it wasn’t vague. Let’s wait and see if it’s still Delta metal a year from its start date...

No amount of good news will make up for all the flying that disappeared out of Narita.

Really? I see most of these Asian cities returning from Seattle or LAX within the next 3 years

Tokyo continued to be a major transit point for Northwest into Asia until its merger with Delta. In October 2008, the month the deal closed, Northwest served 19 cities from Narita: Bangkok (BKK), Beijing (PEK), Busan (PUS), Detroit, Guam (GUM), Guangzhou (CAN), Hong Kong (HKG), Honolulu, Los Angeles, Manila, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Portland, Saipan (SPN), San Francisco (SFO), Seattle Tacoma, Seoul Incheon, Shanghai Pudong (PVG), Singapore and Taipei (TPE), according to Diio by Cirium schedules.

People have been telling me this crap for 23 years. Don’t get me wrong....Delta is a very good, well run and profitable airline. But stop with the fantasy that we are going to significantly grow international flying on Delta metal. It’s not going to happen.

Have we had a Seattle International hub for 23 years?

I get it. The Narita Hub was fantastic flying. Many miss it dearly. But you are correct, Delta is very good at running a profitable airline. They have a clear actionable plan for a restructured Pacific Network. I strongly believe will see the results of that in the future. Time will tell

Most of these cities coming back in 3 years? As much as I want them to... I don't think it is going to happen.

For one... our A350s are too much of an airplane to go onto secondary markets like MNL, SIN etc. If we had 787s which are smaller... I would say we have a shot at some of these markets. I wonder if A330 NEOs have the range to hit some of those markets?? Maybe that is the plan?

Also... skyteam is very inferior in Asia. Almost all the big players are in Star Alliance. Even China Southern just said good bye to Skyteam. Most of the huge markets in Asia- Japan, India, Singapore etc... are mostly dominated by Star Alliance. Even markets like BKK are dominated by Star Alliance. Maybe Philippines Airlines will join Skyteam... have to wait and see.

I wonder if all this ... "we are just waiting for the new SEA immigration facility to be built... " is BS? None of the other airlines are having any issues adding flights into SEA due to the lack of facilities. The moment we pulled out of HKG, CX came to SEA. SQ just announced their non-stop from SIN to SEA. Countless international airlines have added service into SEA recently.
