Delta Dropping Out of NRT
https://onemileatatime.com/delta-ends-tokyo-narita-flights/
Well, the writing was on the wall for a while. Delta is pulling all flights out of Tokyo Narita airport.
NRT-SIN will go away completely.
NRT-MNL will move to ICN-MNL.

But adding 5 US-HND flights, plus ICN-MNL. The value of NRT diminished precipitously ever since Japan allowed int'l flights out of HND. Would be nice if we could move our beyond flights to HND, too, but Japan won't let us.

Ask United how they're doing it. We don't have airplanes to compete, A350 can't do the routes. We only have 15, a dozen 777LR's. They have 100 787/777.

This post doesn't really make sense in context of what you are responding to. United does NRT using an alliance with a Japanese carrier that we don't have which doesn't seem to have much to do with aircraft range.

Delta tried real hard when JAL was in BK protection (govt receivership) to woo them from Oneworld to Skyteam while AA was distracted and in a minor disarray, but alas AA was just strong enough to fend off that move and now Delta is left with KAL as an Skyteam partner and just treat Japan as another major Asia market to serve.

Think with little to no connectivity beyond HND DL will find it hard to make the margin they would like... Yes HND is the choice airport for O/D traffic to Tokyo however without connecting traffic I believe they will see the margins decrease... Yes they have some code share with Skymark but think they will find the program less profitable than the old NWA onward program... Just my 10 yen after living in JPN for 10 years and non-reving around... Will provide a good opportunity for a while for non-revs...
