I agree, especially considering that unless they volunteer via YS, reserves cannot be assigned anything before 10am, while lineholders can get stuck with trips, through no fault of their own, that can start at 6am or earlier...

Also, try calling the guy/gal first if you think they are doing something “wrong.”
I saw a guy had a JS city pair double booked once, I called him and he canceled one.
He said it was a mistake. He forgot to cancel one.
Work it at the lowest level. That’s my mantra. YMMV

With regard to the booking window, it states its the number of days
prior to, but not including, day of travel.
It then defines the day of travel for pilots going to or
from work as the first or last day of the rotation, or the day prior for reserve duty.
