13 captains per plane?

286 widebody captains

Plus say 40% of the 1400 scheduled age 65 retirements are widebody captains.

560 widebody captains

So a total of 846 widebody open positions by the end of 2021.

Math in public. Feel free to criticize and correct.

IMO you can add well over 100 bypasses.

Too optimistic
846? I doubt it but 500 new 777/330/350/764 captains with all schedule aircraft deliveries by the end of 2021 fair number

It seems obvious to me that the answer is to give preference to current A320 pilots when awarding A330 and A350 positions!! ..Ten day training footprint and all...

Hate be the bearer of bad news.... But they expanded the 320-330 course. I think it is either 13 or 14 days now. And...a 24 month commitment instead of a 12 month commitment because of the increase. 320-350 is the full course, while 330-350 is shortened.

Who is we? And is we visually challenged regarding what a 2 aisled airliner is?

Might have to side with him on this one. Its not the visual aspect of a widebody so much as the pay. Max capt pay on the 756 is only 10/hr more than a 737/a321.

Don't get me wrong, delta is a great place to be but looking at widebody capt (or fo for that matter) prospects, and the fact delta has hired way more than united or American since 2014, I'd say from here on out you'd find quicker time to widebody captain at American or united.

Small point: 757 pay scale was increased to match 767 pay scale.

Technically, we are getting widebody pay for flying the 757 segments.

I know, I know. It’s not the top of the pay scale so it doesn’t count
