Default 1400

Approximately 1400 age 65 retirements by the end of 2021. Doesn’t count medical and early.

20 A330-900 deliveries plus 2 A350 by the end of 2021.

13 captains per plane?

286 widebody captains

Plus say 40% of the 1400 scheduled age 65 retirements are widebody captains.

560 widebody captains

So a total of 846 widebody open positions by the end of 2021.

Math in public. Feel free to criticize and correct.

IMO you can add well over 100 bypasses.

I can't comment on your numbers, but the actual AE Captain positions will vary for the next few years as wide bodies rotate into and out of interior mod lines. The 777 are being done now and the 767-400s are just starting. After that I think the A330 will be done.

So CR may not fill all the positions because not all the planes will be operating during the modifications.

That checks. Plus over 100 WB-only category FOs.

How many WB aircraft retirements during that same timeframe?

Great question. IMO not many simply because they are printing money.

There will be a lot of hiring for next year. Next year is a very big number.

I do believe you are correct and, IMO, it will continue for quite a few years.

I’m guessing a lot is more than 1000.

I can't see how the training department can handle that many new hires in addition to recurrent and transition training.
