My guess is when the 321NEO’s (maybe with some converted to LR) start showing up and flying TATL flights is when BOS become a pilot base.

Fixed it for you.

After MCO and BOS, what was the third?

I'm not positive, but I think DFW was thought of as a possible A220/CSeries VB.

Well, they can open BOS and MCO whenever they want to. I don’t think it will happen, but I’m hopeful until the day I retire.

When DALPA ran simulations on where a virtual base might be viable they found only MCO, BOS and SFO worked. That was over 4 years ago so fleet mix and flying distribution may have changed that. The company actually put out a excellent letter on the variables involved and why it would only have a limited application.

They don’t want to open any more bases.

It’s risky and expensive thanks to our MD and paid move process. So we can sit around and wonder why we don’t have any other domiciles, but they aren’t going to do it. As long as you are happy with our bases, nothing to worry about it. (Except CVG)

VB was middle ground, a risk for both parties. 90+ pilots got the MCO award, only to have it yanked without even trying it out for a month. There were even guardrails, like no starting with ocean crossings and the voluntary aspect. It could have been great, it could have stunk. We won’t know.

I flew for an airline that had virtual bases. I have first hand experience.

Bad faith huh? Talk to me about our 25+ scope violations and then when you can justify that come talk to me about bad faith.
Great points. Thanks for factual input! Pesky facts always prevail.

I thought DCA 320 was number 3 after 7ER MCO and 320 BOS. Could be wrong on that though.

It being great was a very low potential. It was a job loss of unspecified amounts and a camel's nose. Given the company's behavior, it was the appropriate action to pull it down.
