Dumping fuel is so 1980's. Who even does that anymore? Must be a Boeing

It would have to be a malfunction so severe that they could not dump over water and necessitated an immediate return. They would have been just as good landing overweight unless it was a major hydraulic loss and did not have anti skid braking. We run numbers on the 777 for each departure. No anti skid is always the highest number.

An A350 LAX base is definitely coming now. Our versions don’t have the fuel dump option. Will keep Calif. regulators happy.

You have to be over 6,000’ for it to evaporate and not hit the ground.

Aside from a fire, what would prompt a crew to dump fuel that low over land vs over the ocean?
