Recency requirements
Greetings. I just hit 20 years active-duty USAF and thinking seriously about disenrolling from T6 PIT (the 3 year commitment is daunting) to retire and to go to the majors. I have 3000 hours + ATP but lack recency. I've got a clean T-6 Form 8 and ~60 hrs. I’m struggling to find recencyrequirements online… Can anyone shed some light on this? Many thanks in advance and pardon my ignorance if a thread covering this topic already exists.

100 hours in the last year is often mentioned as a soft minimum, but nothing written in stone. Getting into an active flying job would likely help immensely.

Second this, if you go to a regional like Endeavor you will get the time you need quickly. Seems that a lot of military pilots are cycling through the regionals getting current and hired right away.

Submit the apps to the majors and let them be the judge. I retired after 20yrs in the AF in 2017 with around 70hrs in the previous year and ~2300TT. I was prepared and half expected to spend time with the regionals but it wasn’t necessary. I got interview calls from each of the majors I applied to. If you don’t ask for the job the answer is always no!

Thanks for the input. This seems to jive with what I’m hearing on the rumor-mill in the squadron. Which Regional is best to flow to DAL?
They do have Delta Guaranteed Interview (DGI) with Endeavor. Once you hit 18 months as a Capt you get to interview. As a Mil guy, you won’t be around long enough for the DGI to matter. Get hired somewhere ASAP, get your 100hours, and keep that app updated! |

I'm going to add that I'm just going on the presumption that you have someone already who will get your app pulled for scoring internally. |
Correct. I'm good friends with at least 4 Delta guys who'll make the internal recommendation. For context, I worked for Delta in college in SLC, and vowed to come back into the cockpit post mil career. All of your comments are highly encouraging- thank you.
