Actually seems like a reasonable fallback plan.

Unless of course your job goes away with the airframes.

Jet fuel is cheap, those things are paid for...what’s the rush.

Agreed. Any reduction in mainline aircraft is sad unless the replacement aircraft are delivered.

Generally when you’ve got more capacity than demand you park the aircraft you own and keep flying those under lease obligations.

Paid for many times over. A cash cow. Stopped like a tobaggon in the snow. Schlong.

Considering they were designed over 50 years ago and are currently safely and reliably flying passengers that seems a little harsh. Now if you turn your ire to the latest 737 design from Boeing that has proven “troublesome” I might agree with
you.

I too would love to fly new state of the art equipment but as long as these old airframe seems can positively impact the bottom line they will be around. Full disclosure - I am currently on the 737.

I don't think anyone's "job" will go away at DL because of this. Only reassigment. Highly unlikely we would furlough. Not only is there not enough information to even consider it, the cost/benefit calculation punishes the company pretty hard (as it should). And that's not even including the press to test case with the 35 largre RJ's that only exist in our system because of the still current flow down LOA. They can park those first, or flow 500-600 pilots there, either way.
