Scheduling will bankrupt the company.

Crews and planes and pretty much all other overhead is a sunken cost right now though, and fuel is basically free. Also we need a skeleton domestic network to spoke what little profitable flying (cargo, which there's no money in or something) beyond the hub(s) it goes to.

Yep, scheduling is overwhelmed but lets give them a break. Their job is to get crews into the aircraft which is what they are doing. A lot of what they are doing is inefficien,t but they are putting out the fires as they come to them - they have not had a chance to look out more than a few days and catch up.
I agree that it would be nice to see some guidance come out the fourth floor and they are probably working around the clock to come up with a plan. The May bid package if its not delayed too much might give some hints on at least what the short term plan is.

Pilots: We will accept a 55-hour SIL, reducing payroll costs for each taker by at least 24%. Of this savings is “insignificant,” then obviously pilot payroll isn’t the problem it’s being made out to be.
Also pilots: Scheduling is putting multiple crews on flights as well as using premium pay options to crew flights that are flying virtually empty while increasing crew exposure, with each occurrence costing the company 200-300% more than required and possibly leading to more sickouts than required.
Yeah, sounds like a dumb argument to me, too.

that money was pledged to be used over a decade, not spent in one shot. I’d imagine zero dollars actually moved on that project between the announcement and today
