Does it matter how it was going to be spent? It provides an insight to their wastefulness.

Fix our decrepit IT - No
Virtue Signal - Yes

Priorities.

well, it does matter, because you asked if we had “burned” the money. No, we have not.

So we have not burned the money - i.e. we still have it.
or
We did burn the money - i.e. we wasted it on something that could have been better served...such as updating flight Ops IT

Why not cancel everything, put every pilot on reserve, then go to one flight a day per city (to comply with the CARES act). That should eliminate scheduling being wasteful.

since none of the money has been spent, no, we didn’t “burn” the money. I’m not sure why you don’t understand this. We are in no worse a position today as a result of the carbon promises.

What a bunch of idiots these people are . I am all for taking care of planet , but some of this stuff is just garbage and it’s all about power and control . A Billion dollars ? What a waste . Maybe Delta should get most of that back cause they parked 600 airplanes then I guess no need for pollution control . Plus the millions of cars currently not driving . What a scam .
I suspect the vast majority of that 1B was money Delta was spending on new, more fuel efficient airplanes that they would have purchased anyway. It just makes for a nice warm fuzzy sound bite to claim we are altruistically spending lots of money on the environment.

We had the pile ready, gas was poured, match lit, but along came a sudden gust of corona virus.

they were going to burn it. not gonna spend it on IT or other infrastructure improvements on the flight ops side. Get it? Good grief you are dense.

Also, are you stalking me or are you a bot? Pretty amazing that of all the threads on all the pages of APC, you responded to my original posting < 3 minutes after it went live. So either you are stalking me, or you are a bot.

Scheduling wouldn’t be such a cluster right now if the company had accepted our scheduling committees offer to work side by side with them. But now CS will burn extra cash we don’t have. Oh well, we tried to help...again.
