Hey man...so we were at 300k+ yesterday...I’d like to remind you that it’s still the month of May...how’s your “math” holding up? Sticking to your guns?

Was sweating a RJ 900 yesterday with only 38 seats open (60% rule) turned out to be a 200 with 8 paid. Long way to go. (ATL/TYS)

Yeah good thing you took the flight. That would be a long drive.

Loads in the DCI system have been bringing down mainline’s LF a couple of points. Point is Delta knows loads are lower on RJs right now.

OK forget non revs. How are the fare buckets being handled right now WRT determining when to add flights? In the past some markets have suffered from massive myopia whereby the lack of demand for the highest fare buckets was interpreted as being a lack of demand for more flights, sometimes to the point of the competition dumping mass capacity on top of us for first bucket fares because we based "no more demand" on the lack of last bucket fares being sold.

That's how they manage the revenue premium and the brand image. Right or wrong they will fight to maintain the premium.

That only works in an upward economy along with rational competitors practicing capacity dicipline. Thinking we're going to extract $2000 walk ups for last bucket fares only to see the competition barf $99 super savers on top of us and fill up planes while our drinking straw bean counters chalk it up to "no more demand" will get our widgets handed to us. Once the first drops of blood are in the water, the LCC's ULCC's, SWA and maybe even a legacy or two in a few markets will eat our lunch.

Unless we want to relive the doldrums of 01-07 again we will need leadership to pull rank on marketing from time to time because they absolutely do not always see the big picture.

You missed your calling as an airline manager. I had no idea you were such an astute revenue guru. (TIC) You assume when they say smaller, they mean temporarily. I think the brand is about to get that biz jet vibe of exclusivity and cache with the just not quite rich enough to use the Delta private jets and wheels up crowd. Except for that once a year trip to impress their friends which they earned with the Delta ticket and card spend. I think we will be entering a new phase of paid space.

maybe we could also then roll delta private jets and their equipment into the seniority list too. Might be a nice change of pace for a year or 2.
