COVID-19 Antibody Testing Information
I started this thread so we can share information about the how’s, where’s, and how much.... for COVID 19 antibody testing.
Due to our profession we should be pretty high up the list, just behind healthcare professionals and first responders. Some News outlets are reporting that Covid-19 Antibody testing MUST be 100% covered (Free) by all insurance companies as part of the CARES Act? Has anyone been able to verify this coverage? I’m not able to find any information on the UHC website. Has anyone gone down this road yet? If so could you share as much information as you have? (If we could not turn this into a political argument until page 3, that would be appreciated) |
Saw a doctor’s office in NYC advertising antibodies tests for $40 with insurance, $100 without insurance. CityMD, a large urgent care center also in NYC, is charging $55.

Copied from a CityMD email I received yesterday re:testing....
Here’s some good news: after week upon endless week of very limited testing for COVID-19, we are finally able at CityMD to offer testing to any patient who needs it. Please take the time to read the following to understand the options that are available and understand that you must see a CityMD provider in order to be tested.
For more information regarding CityMD COVID-19 testing, please visit our COVID-19 testing FAQ. As noted at the top of the letter, we believe we are on our way back. CityMD has reopened several of our temporarily closed sites in Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, Staten Island, and New Jersey. We now offer this comprehensive testing capability as well as our regular suite of urgent care services in nearly 120 locations across the entire region. Whether it’s a sore throat, seasonal allergies, an ankle sprain or other injury, we are there for you and we hope you will come see us. This has been an extraordinary period for everyone. Not least of which because we are all just plain tired of this, it’s only human nature to default to the negative adjectives - scary, tragic, confusing, devastating, maddening - and the 24-hour news coverage doesn’t really help that much. We hope you can focus instead on the abundant positives in our immediate world: the heroism, the compassion, the generosity, and the kindness that so many have you have brought to strangers and loved ones alike over this dark period. It’s those conspicuous traits and behaviors that have gotten us this far, and they’re what will get us truly to the other side of this crisis. Be safe, and be well – |
Just did a drive through test in my town. Took less than 15 minutes with results, negative for antibodies. Was curious if I had contracted it earlier this year.

RE:
I took an antibody test through my PCP (LABCORP) on Monday and it came back on Wed positive for both short term and long term antibodies. I told my CPO (NYC) and I was told to call the Delta Nurse. I called the nurse and they took the information and counted me as a COVID case. I sent the CPO a copy of the report and they put NFLY on a trip I called in sick for in March. I had four one day trips out of NYC 17-20 March and had a fever 22 March in the evening (99) and the next day in the afternoon. No more fever after that. Then developed a dry cough for 2 weeks that went away in early Apr. I am NYC 320B. I recommend getting the test done if you think you have had it. It's good peace of mind and helps build the picture of who has had it. I also have registered to give plasma through the red cross.

-Bubs I tested negative. I had the symptoms in Feb, then in March flew 2 days with a pilot who called out sick mid rotation and tested positive after getting home. Really surprised & bummed I didn't have it already. |
