United first displacement posted
Well the blood bath has started at United. Over 4,000 displacements on this bid. You can go to the United forum to see the thread. A friend sent a copy to me with the letter associated with it. It sounds really bad. Management tells them that they can basically tell from this bid what is going to happen in October unless things change significantly.

4457 total displacements. I'm a United pilot and its ugly. It will capture all of our post merger hires and some from both legacies.
Good luck to all. We might fly for different carriers, but when it comes down to it, we are first and foremost pilots.

Same. Don’t want to see furloughs anywhere.

Or it’s posturing by Kirby, you know...the guy who has such a great track record with labor relations.

I figured half of those displacements might end up being furloughs, but perhaps I'm looking at this wrong. Why do you see it as a minimum furlough number?

I guess it depends on when they actually start the training on their displacement bid. Right now, if they have 4000-5000 too many pilots, and actually start the training then I see that as a minimum number of furloughs. If they wait to start the training then it could be less or more..Training creates a huge cost and takes months, so changing it would be undesirable and very costly. I could be wrong, but that is what I'm thinking..The same thing applies to Delta.
