Well what do you know...

I don't lean left but I do agree the intent of the CARES act was not to reduce payroll expense relative to last year. Those are our taxpayer dollars, and the only party coming out whole are the Bond holders.

For most of the Delta employees the leave of absence was good. They got time off and received equal pay(stimulus money and unemployment), avoided being around others during Corona, helped Delta, and now they come back from leave with no reduction in their number of work hours(the leave insured they come back at full pay). Sounds like a great deal to me.

then why was the act only good through September and not for 12 months? A cynic might think the act was purposely timed to expire 2 months before an election so that politicians could grandstand in a letter about how much they care for workers.
Sorry Phuz, not taking a shot at you personally but empty political letters like this drive me crazy

So. The Air Lines went, with their hand out, to the tax payer to cover payroll from 4/1-9/30, then motivated employees to go to the taxpayer to fund their unemployment? Delta just announced that hours will remain at 75%. Joann actually told employees that they could make as much or more on unemployment considering the $600 Trump Bump. Never did they tell these low information employees that many of them may be furloughed come 10/1 and will have already used 8, 12, 24 weeks of their limited unemployment benefit. I don't see this as a good thing; Ed and the gang were disingenuous as hell actually.

And that will do more damage to another union showing up than SILs. If they are smart enough to realize they’ve been duped.

“Sorry, but things changed!!” We learned this after the SILs/April rebid LOA.... Yet another reason to quit asking if it’s a good idea to lower the ALV now, for furlough mitigation later. I’m sure “things will change” again when it’s time for management to hold up their end of the bargain...... Fool me once....
