Default International Layovers

With so many restrictions still in place for foreign travelers as well as stay at home orders, quaratines, etc., I'm curious what people are seeing on the international layovers. Are stores and restaurants available? Dine in/takeout? Are you expected to self-isolate at the hotel? What's it like out there?

South Korea and Japan are pretty open. Sit down restaurants, barbers, even bars. It’s a nice change, although they take masks and procedures pretty seriously. In ICN you are supposed to report symptoms daily via a tracking app though I know not everyone does. HND makes you fill out a form asking whether you’ll be at the hotel or just local area etc, but it’s pretty low key. I hear PVG is coming back but they’re so heavy handed we won’t be doing layovers there, just turns out of ICN. Can’t speak to Europe as I haven’t been since the apocalypse.

AMS layover. Masks required on public transportation. Hotel staff always wears mask. Other than that maybe 10% wearing masks. Older people made an effort to social distance. Younger people not so much. Most restaurants, stores, and bars are open with very few customers. No tourists...none. Amsterdam with nice wx and no tourists equals a fantastic layover. FYI...red light district still closed except for bars.

Only problem with the trip. Only carried about 30 pax. I think Europe is still closed to tourists till July.

I'm more concerned about layovers in MSP, ATL, PDX, SEA, and maybe CHAZ/CHOP if they set up an airport (NOTE TO ALPA: how about that international CHAZ per diem?)

Well, the CHAZ is 1/2 mile away up a hill and not on the way to Ruth's Chris, so the fox news addicts well never get close enough to even hear the bongo drums

Hate to bump my own thread but still wondering a few things:
Heard that Delta is still not serving meals on flights? Does that include international? Just wondering if I need to plan on packing some food.
Haven't flown since March and got a long LHR layover coming up next month. What are things like in the UK for Americans? I've got no interest in venturing onto public transit right now but what's to do near the layover? Are the parks open? Shops? I assume grocery stores and the like are open. What kind of restrictions are people seeing on restaurants? Anyone have any intel on the "usual suspects" around the layover hotel?
Any other useful tips?

I don’t fly for you, but I’ve flown on you lately. First class meal on a 7ER consisted of a ziplock baggie holding a water bottle and chips. Very irritating.

It's fine, get out and enjoy.

Talked to our FAs on the last trip (3 days ago), they indicated we would be returning service to Int'l flights within the next 2 weeks or so. Can't confirm, haven't seen it verified in writing, this is what they told me and the cappy. Anecdotal at best.

The EU just decided not to let Americans in as of July 1 because we can’t control Covid-19. The exceptions are medical personnel, etc. Could be posturing because we don’t let Europeans in either.

On an eight and a half hour flight!? That's pathetic and borderline irresponsible. I'd be irritated (and wildly hangry) as well. I hope they are warning passengers of this before boarding!
