The admittedly limited feedback I've gotten so far to not take the early out has been trepedations over bankruptcy issues more than anything else.

14K + Pilots means 14K + individual situations. There may be hundreds of reasons why someone over 62 decides not to take this offer. Maybe they live in base and would rather stay on payroll and drop trips. Maybe they enjoy flying. Maybe they need a reason to get out of the house . Guys will analyze this and do whats best for them and their families which is exactly what they should do.

Y’all better quit right now because ZERO % of our contract is bankruptcy proof. Hate to burst all the bubbles.

If all the Capt in your category retire but those on your no fly list, hard to get a line

You do realize that's not the issue? Everyone knows the contract not bankruptcy proof. The problem is if pilots take the EO they could lose 100% of income and healthcare. I they stay they still have an income and healthcare unless the company goes into liquidation.........and in that case it would be better if they stayed too!

Yes I do realize that, but I’m not so sure that all of the “but bankruptcy!” folks do.

While income may be there healthcare is no guarantee in reorganization.

And if liquidation then everybody is S.O.L.

Oh...except management and the custodian overseeing the liquidation. That gig usually pays real well.

As for better if stayed vs go? Its an individual calculation. In a slide to bankruptcy there will be degradation of terms of employment. While this severance package will be frozen.

Whats better....being retired drawing 58hrs for the next 3 years as delta slides to an eventual bankruptcy?

Or staying.....enduring the inevitable stress and concessions that go along with that death spiral?

Choose wisely.

Ask Ed, Leo Mullin, Michelle Burns and Joe Kohlshack. They did a pretty good job establishing their bankruptcy-proof golden parachutes

Denny,

Why is it a forgone conclusion to everyone that a bankruptcy judge would throw out the EO completely and cease all payments and not just reduce the pay by X% like everyone else still active? (Serious question). This isn’t the DB...on the grand scale, the early out isn’t an expensive item.

it's easy to make something BK proof when you are the one deciding what gets cut.
