Default Aeromexico files for bankruptcy - Ch 11

"Mexican airline Aeromexico said on Tuesday it had begun restructuring under Chapter 11 proceedings, the latest Latin American airline to run into serious trouble as the coronavirus pandemic wreaks havoc on tourism and business travel."

From the article:

"Delta Air Lines (DAL.N) holds a 49% stake in Aeromexico and a 20% stake in LATAM, and their bankruptcy processes put the U.S. carrier’s investment at risk of suffering a severe reduction in value or worse."

The way I keep reading these bankruptcy announcements is that our JV partners just increased their cost advantage over Delta pilots, making the use of JV partners for international flying even more attractive to Delta management. Keep an eye on that scope section! Without that, none of the rest of it matters. That goes for the noncons too.

Now you know why we are going to be a significantly smaller international airline for awhile. I don't want to say it but I told you so. "You" being the inter-web multiverse. SCOPE, QOL, PAY. In that order. Sometimes I hate being right.

x2

This and the stock burn backs. nice work team. now you know why they are coming after us for concessions.

this just keeps getting better and better /s

I think the furloughs are now going to go deeper than Dec 16 hires. That RJ seat removal thing ain't gonna mean diddly when they are cutting them RJs up for beer cans. If you thought you were safe because of that, you may want to reconsider your position.

Biggest manmade self-destruction in history.

One of the articles said they expect to expand international flying in the upcoming months. Do Aeromexico pilots work under a contract? This article also said:

Analysts predict many airlines in Latin America could disappear due to the effects of the pandemic, leading to weaker competition and higher ticket prices.
It might be a hit for Delta if these companies disappear but it might be better for our careers.
