The BRZ/FRS would be a small step down in luxury and build quality but an increase in handling and performance but not a drop top. It also more unique relative to a MX-5. I agree the Supra/Z4 would be a step up in luxury.

Does it need to be new? If not, I’d definitely recommend that you take a look at the 987.2 generation of the Porsche Cayman and Boxster. Reliable, especially because they have the M9A1 engine and can be had with a stick or PDK. They are the last generation of the hydraulic steering systems (along with the revered 911 997.2). Also no bore scoring or IMS concerns as with the M96 and M97 engines in the 996.1, 996.2, and 997.1.

definitely would look used. Appreciate the recommendation!

I think 95% of it is just to get a reaction out of the Miata guys - if some of them didn’t take themselves so seriously almost all the ribbing would disappear.

I swear, every thing with a tiny bit of a cult following has that. Tell a guy from Texas that In N Out is a better burger (which is is) and you'll be buried. Same if you tell a Wisconsin person that the Packers suck (they do. Most overrated franchise in sports.)

These are great but hurry prices are rising fast.

Even better looking but harder to find and more expensive.

The japanese marks are tuff to beat for reliability. Style-wise seems their successful 2 wheel and 4 wheel designs that channeled the brits have been real winners.

My problem is as a big body i just dont fit in a lot of cars I admire. had convertible Mustang years ago. I fit and it was a real hoot to drive.

When I went looking in 2017 for another convertible my thought was again what worked before. Hi-Po Mustang. GT or 350/500. Looked at Camaro too. The Chevy guy asked why not a C7?.....uhhh... Because I dont fit.

Turns out the C7 is a larger cockpit than past gens. And i did fit. Barely. :)

A C7 Stingray roadster is a heck of a lot of fun. On road trips room for 2 carryon bags and 27mpg at 85mph. Id guess there is some good pricing out there on pre owned. If you really want to set your hair (and tires) on fire a used C7 Z06 would set you back a bit more.

With my furlough pay, I'm thinking about a 1960 300SL. Roadster, I feel the gullwing could be in issue in the employee parking lot.
