I like the message but i think the C44 letter does a better job just flat out showing what other airlines have done in regard to voluntary programs versus what Delta management has done. I did find humor in the fact that JL, during his town hall meeting yesterday, considers ALV reductions a voluntary program.

Sure seems like the negotiating in public is having the opposite effect than planned. It appears to be rallying and solidifying the union demographic rather than fracturing it?

It’s about as voluntary as Private Pyle “choking” himself in full metal jacket.

Sorry, this Boomer forgot about the Virgin acquisition. I still stand by my post as worth consideration as to the differences between Delta and Southwest/Alaska are of such a magnitude as to make them cats and dogs......and according to Wikipedia more opposite with each day....

"The acquisition created one issue for the enlarged Group: Alaska operates an all-Boeing 737 fleet of aircraft, but Virgin America operated an all-Airbus fleet. Even though the 737 and A320 family jets are designed to operate in the same segment – short-to-medium-range segment of up to 200 passengers – the two jets are very different in terms of operation, and anyone wishing to change from a 737 to an Airbus A320 family jet (or vice versa) needs to go through a lengthy training course, a costly process for the airline.[93] The first Airbus leases expired in 2019, with more set to expire between 2021 and 2024.[94][95] In April 2020, in response to route suspensions stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, Alaska grounded 19 inherited Virgin America aircraft, with 12 permanently retired and the other 7 unlikely to return to service; the airline is using pandemic-related flight reductions as an opportunity to retrain many Airbus pilots to fly the Boeing 737 instead.[96]"

Do you think what I highlighted in red makes any difference in how things are handled?

True, he could have discussed what is occurring at American. The were offered SILs as well.

Not sure if you are actually arguing the wording of the letter or just looking for ways to rationalize concessions for yourself. Laughter has done a good job uniting our pilot group, we are done with surrendering.

C44 pointed out how ALL others have handled this within their pilot groups. Can you honestly say how our management looks remotely anything like the others?

Have we exhausted ALL voluntary options yet?

Management doesn't want to compare us to other pilot groups. They want to compare us to other work groups within Delta. The sooner we realize this the sooner we will achieve total enlightenment.

Neither...you can color me as....gone. I just happen to be a proponent of rational and logical forms of proselytizing...whether it is from the company or the union. Using Southwest and Alaska as equal competitors seems disingenuous. Kinda borders on mob mentality, unify the troops even if the facts of the message aren't pertinent. I am not surprised that it resonates with the few posters on APC

I've gotten emotional responses(like yours is) but no "thoughts" as to whether Alaska and Southwest are worthy comparitors to us when considering the international component and training costs.

Seems like a lotta, " Brittany's dad bought her a new BMW for her 16th birthday....you're a bad daddy if you don't buy me one too!"

PS....the guys taking the VEOP will vote overwhelmingly for NO concessions and the guys close to furlough will vote ?????? People overwhelmingly vote their pocketbook....time horizon is a big ingredient of that.
