Interesting thoughts, with some good discussions in the comments. This would be a huge gain in efficiency for the company, which I'm all for. Good time to snag some QOL gains, while protecting jobs, out of such a change in our fleet. I'd like to see a cut in the top of the line construction window. An added bonus would be applying ALV+15 to SWP/SWF.

With that list, I'd hope for Max's. I've never in my life said that (not a fan of the 737 myself), but I don't think being single-manufacturer is a good idea for an airline of our size. Having completed the 900ER deliveries, we need to keep a contract or two open with Boeing, IMHO.

Dang, from Maroon 5 to The Voice, fragrance lines, mens clothing, his own record company, you mean to tell me Adam Levine is also a CFA who posts on Seeking Alpha? Dude does everything! Interesting article. His article on how "American Airlines seems wedded to spreading capacity across too many hubs and maximizing market share in a low-yield environment" is a good read, too. He's certainly a Delta-phile, but there are several sources indicating that Delta's safety strategy is a strong long-term loyalty play.

The battle at Delta has always been between having too many fleet types and network saying they can earn plenty of money to support different fleet types. Network likes different sized airplanes to supply a market to match demand as close as they can.
Even the large 737-900ER order has had changes during the run. Example, the early airplanes had different landing lights than later planes - so just the 737-900ER fleet will have differing part numbers within the sub-fleet.

Good analysis with some good comments. Clearly the winning comment is from the guy who recommends we leverage emerging transporter technology from Georgia Tech. He is right, a Star Trek transporter would devastate our industry. We need to prepare for that.
