Fat lady sang!

As you may be aware, United made a strategic decision to retain only one ERJ145 United Express operator for 2021 and beyond. Unfortunately, we have just been told that United intends to go forward with CommutAir as its sole operator of the ERJ145 in 2021.

This is devastating news for all of us. ExpressJet’s capability and flexibility have always been unchallenged. Although we presented a solid business plan, with very attractive costs, to United, unfortunately, we did not make the cut. It is disappointing to all that ExpressJet’s many strengths – including our ability to maintain and fly hundreds of aircraft - were insufficient to secure the win in an era of industry uncertainty and caution.

In the coming days, we will work with United to develop a workplan for the phased wind-down of our operations. The transition will take a number of months, and we’ll be sure to provide updates along the way. That workplan will include the timeline, information relating to specific work groups, and details regarding your pay and benefits. As soon as that information becomes available, we will share it with you.

In the meanwhile, I ask that you continue to display your exemplary professionalism and perform at your regular high level. Please continue to hold your best-in-the-business head high and contribute as we go through this difficult transition. And most importantly, please stay healthy and safe.

Oh man...the industry is losing one of the greats. Tough news but not entirely unexpected. SkyWest really did a topnotch job gutting and crushing two of their ALPA competitors. Really one for future business school studies. Hoping for soft landings for all those at XJT. I was there on the CoEx/UAX side for almost 10 memorable years, from the heady days of growing to 274 airplanes, the Great Aquafresh Experiment and into the dark days of furloughs during the Great Recession and the acquisition and merger orchestrated by SkyWest. Through it all, always a strong operation and a great group of pilots where everyone had each other's backs. Gonna remember my time there fondly.

I was employed at Express Jet 2013-2014. As a CRJ pilot, I consider myself an ASA guy. I flew them as a passenger several times in the early ‘00s, GTR-ATL-GTR. Although I never expected to spend time at a regional, I credit them for getting me to DL.

Great people, great instructors, great pilots. The three pilots that stand out in my mind are the Norwegian Hammer (can’t remember his name), Tom T (training dept), and Capt Woody. They really helped me become a decent 121 pilot through tough standards and great mentorship.

I’m kind of an airline geek. ASA is one of the great originals and I’m very proud to have been an Acey pilot. Good luck to everyone at XJT.

How many pilots are we talking about? (one is too many)

00-06 XJT alumni. It was a great place in those days. Fast upgrades, great pay, and Glen Clemons as your boss was a good time. 😂. Sad to see them go. 😢

I’ll always have the best memories of XJ. A phenomenal training department and excellent people throughout. Sad ending.

Training department was amazing. Training center was awesome.....you could watch all the CAL guys walk into their total dump across the lot while we hung out in a nice new training center. 😂

XJT(CRJ) Alum '12-'16, now at B6. I echoe all your sentiments exactly. My first four sims were with the Norwegian Hammer(PA), had me questioning my life choices at some point :D One of the best training departments in my experience. Tailwinds and a fair landing to all.
