United AIP to avoid furloughs
Off the United thread, does anyone think the Delta will use this a a stepping stone for a deal with us to avoid furloughs? And if so, will it delay the AE results? Mpg maybe some sort of monthly guarantee...similar to an ALV? Spitballing...
‘Here’s the latest rumor:
Agreement in principle reached to mitigate all furloughs
cancel displacements of *top 2 thirds* of pilot group
all DH in first
11K LTD
some RSV improvements
bottom 1/3 (who would of been furloughed) get 50% MPG, Middle 1/3 takes 20% MPG cut, top 1/3 takes 10% MPG cut
Dynamic snap backs based on demand metrics compared to 2019 demand #’s
costs the company more money than a straight furlough
flexibility to quickly recover’

Sounds bad. What happens in bankruptcy? You're basically dividing the pilot group into three separate voting blocks and creating a B and C scale.
And how can the union or pilots predict when we'll hit the snapback metrics?
If we got an agreement like this, I think it would be voted down.

Delta would have to collateralize that loan because gifts are not a part of a business arrangement. Repayment upon profitability might get it done here. None of this staffs the airline correctly or solves the real problem, revenue. Unfortunately there are too many employees for the current level of the operation. If Delta wants to keep people around for the recovery then they have to pay them. If they want savings they have a decision to make. Perhaps partially deferring compensation would work but as a loan to get through the present.

What's the steep cut? Furloughed and get nothing or less days making 90%, 80% or 50% of normal pay. I think the vast majority(greater than 2/3) would be ecstatic when faced with furlough. What am I misunderstanding?
edit....upon rereading rumor....I guess they are saying all proposed furloughees (bottom 1/3 of seniority list) would get 50 % pay. They would like that option I'm sure. Tougher nut for all others pay cut of 10 % or 20% but rescinding of displacements.....Hmmmm
