I’ve wondered the same. My friends at Boeing claim that the 767 was supposed to be the first EICAS driven Boeing jet with less “bells and whistles”. Upon doing some market research the old heads and senior pilots didn’t like this idea and that’s how you ended up with an EICAS on the airplane AND all the fire and temp lights.

I agree completely, but why waste our time getting the max 10 when we have almost 300 A321s in service/ on order that are the same size with seemingly better performance and more payload options(LR/XLR). It just seems redundant.

but as long as the A225 stays a paper airplane the Max 8 would make sense in that market.

Yay, more narrowbodies.

Considering our long-term strategic plan, it makes complete sense.

Maybe Boeing could make the Max 10 a taildragger. Solve the loading issue and no more tail strikes. Of course 80% of the pilots would have to learn that rudder pedals aren’t just for taxiing.

Completely agree. Airbus needs to get off its fat a$$ and get the A220-500 program officially moving forward. Several airlines want it now and nobody is ordering mass quantities of A319 NEOs. Maybe we will hear something about the 500 at Farnborough in mid July.

Airbus bought the A220 to control the market not to make it a success or even a big seller. It was bought for the same reason airlines merge. Kill off a competitor.

Airbus are hesitant to put more money into the 220 until it’s profitable. They need to get costs down of the current offerings first.

I think Airbus can buy out the Quebec government’s share fairly soon (2023?). Once Airbus owns the full program they will hopefully launch the -500, with a Delta order

2025 launch would time it well to start replacing the 320 and older 319s. I think Air France want a 225 as well.
