Will be the worse in the history of aviation for sure. Similar to the “airing of the grievances” at Christmas. Just letting it all out in the hopes of a fresh start for the new year. The financial situation will improve substantially in 4Q2020.

It will be ugly. All of the programs (VEOP) and write downs were done in the 3rd QTR for a reason. There were a lot of non-cash accounting write downs like the depreciation of the future aircraft retirements. All done purposely to pile it into an abhorrent 3QTR. Then a recovery will hopefully begin in 4QTR. Emperoress Pelosi said relief was going to happen for the airlines. If that’s the case, good news for Delta’s bean counters... and continued uncertainty for the possible furloughs. But at least some will be able to take leaves w/ conflict (if the LOA passes) and get long term mil leave w/out penalty. The possible furloughs will at least be getting paychecks well past their realistic furlough dates if there was no C1 or C2. Even though the uncertainty stinks and I wish it wouldn’t happen, it’s nice to have the paychecks when w/out, they would’ve been on the street for months.

Ha! Good point. No I hate socialism. But having been furloughed, I would’ve certainly enjoyed some gubment cheese back in 01/02 when I needed it! BTW... I have lobbied my congressional reps hard for C2 even though I worry about our nation’s spending habits.

Southwest is cancelling 90,000 flights in Q4. Holiday bookings are anemic. At this rate I hope we see 50% return of passengers by summer.
