U-haul

Anyone rented a u-haul in last week or so?

Relief manager couldnt find truck keys yesterday when I got there. Had to get hold of a second location. That manager explained U-haul has elevated break-in and truck theft numbers in last few weeks. So stores have gone to new key security measures.

His info was the increased thefts are thought to be related to protest activities?

This is a political thread

Everything is political to some people. Im just curious if anyone else has run across this at a uhaul. Or if the manager was full of baloney. Or maybe too hung over to remember where he put the truck keys.

Glad i didnt ask about the plywood all over the businesses on my way to the uhaul store. You might have really blown a gasket over that.

I own two U-Haul dealerships. We are taking additional security measures. Draw your own conclusion.

In my little piece of the world you can't even get a 5'x8' unless you drive 1.5 hours away. Hope that means theyre busy and making money.

And why are the 6'x10's only for local use?

U-Haul is very market dependent. I can't speak to the trailer specifics as we only offer trucks at our dealerships. Some dealerships avoid trailers because of the additional PITA factor, which could be the case in your area. If you are in NYC, SFO or a few other similar areas, trailers/trucks can be hard to locate. In places like TX, FL, AZ trucks and trailers are plentiful. Just for fun compare the one way rates moving from NY to FL, Chicago to Austin or CA to AZ, then look at the reverse routing price. Airlines aren't the only industry who understands demand pricing.

Again draw your own conclusions...

This a a political thread, but talking about gender neutral announcements is not?? Ooff, your hypocrisy astounds me.

BobZ 11-03-2020 09:22 AM

Thanks Gunner. It sounded plausible, but had a minute of wondering if I was being put on.

No offense about the being hungover thingy. Lol.

I actually completely agree. Both should be deleted

I rented a 17 foot Uhaul last Thursday. Keys were in the truck with it sitting out front when I arrived.

Where was that? If front of the liquor store that was on fire in Seatte? Was it filled up with "reparations"? Was that the scheduled pick up spot or did they have to use Lo Jack to keep you apprised of the location?

Here's Oofff in ......3.....3....1:mad:

Free is too much to pay for some of your ideas and thought processes

But I do recognize triggered when I see it

BobZ 11-03-2020 03:06 PM

I just thought sailing might be flaunting some sort of privilege.

U-haul privilege. Haha

Are people stealing them just to move?

Sounds like a lot of people wasted a lot of money for nothing.

You can easily move a Miata in some of their trucks or trailers.

it’s still faster than a 1970 chevelle with the 396 through the quarter mile, so probably fast enough for most people 🤷🏻‍♂️

How about on something with a bit more of a straight away?

Well, then you'll be he'll be in the rearview and he'll have to explain again why his car is the superior car.

Any car owner that has to explain to you why their car is better is probably wrong. "Any man than has to say he's the king, is no king." (Paraphrased from T Lannister)

more of a straightaway than a quarter mile drag strip? I’m fairly sure any of the faster option package chevelles would run out of gear before the Miata would, so I think a standing mile would end similarly

edit: looks like I’m wrong. The chevelle might pick up the difference in the ever popular and relevant standing mile
