How did training pay get this bad? No Per diem and you have to stay in this crime filled nasty area eating hotel and takeout food. Should be a flat 80 hours/ month plus $60/ day per diem.
Making new hires pay for their own nasty hotel, wow what a welcome sign that is. We can do alot better than this!!!
Wake up ALPA!!

1. The company doesn't need the PWA to compel them to provide hotels for new hires. They could provide them any time they wish. It's a disgrace that they don't I agree. The fact that they don't should tell you something.
2. Believe it or not the hotel situation is far better contractually than it used to be. Back in the day, the contractual language stated that a pilot would only get a hotel for "training away from his base." That meant that every ATL commuter had to pay for a hotel for CQ and likely a crash pad for any initial qual. Ask me how I know! The tired old mantra of "you choose to commute" was often cited.
3. I agree that things could and should be even better. Keep up the emails to reps, etc.

Got some more info the other day. Basically you get paid 2.2 hours per day of training and days off in between. No pay for before or after your training on days off, no per diem if your based in ATL. I know pathetic. If you get enough advanced notice you can bid trips on the MMC days the month ahead of time and get paid for those. Who knew?
Anyway I'll be getting 35 hours of pay for the month of DEC plus vacation pay to sit in that crap hole hotel and train for 17 days.
Not the time to complain about this with so many others suffering but something to think about for the future. Imagine being a new hire here and paying for your own hotel.
Way to go ALPA....

Nope, reserve guarantee has nothing to do with it. like i said in my post if you knew to bid the month before you could of bid to fly on the MMC days and gotten paid for those trips. I did not know to do that, but did bid for a line and received no trips. SOL I guess...

Edit: sorry missed the vacation in Dec. I’m assuming that got you into the LCW for the month with the vacation hours preposted. In hindsight probably would have been better to bid reserve. Would have gotten you about 10 extra hours of pay (assuming 7 days of vacation)

How could you not know you have training? ALPA has several publications on how to bid when you do have training. I reread all that anytime I have training coming up. Lookup PBS notepad 14-07. I would also start researching how you will bid for January. I watched a pilot lose over a 70 hours pay not understanding shadow days.
