Amazon delta relationship

Could have been a great airplane for us to start back up the northwest dedicated freight side... but there's no money in cargo

^^^this. There is money in ACMI right now due to lower volume of pax belly freight. But long term I don’t think we can compete with the cost structure of most ACMI carriers. If you go look at their pay rates/retirement/work rules some of them (atlas and southern) are closer to the regionals than they are to us. EG a 12 year atlas 767 CA makes less than per hour than a 12 year 7ER FO at DL with a 62 hr guarantee for 17 days of work and a weak 401k (.50 on the dollar match up to 5%)

Amazon will make the regional whipsaw look like child’s play when you watch how they handle the ACMI carriers. They are a ruthless and heavy anti union company.

Amazon discussion aside, there is a reason why the following predominantly passenger air carriers each have a robust dedicated freighter fleet:
Lufthansa
Cathay Pacific
Korean
Japan Airlines
Air China
China Southern
Emirates
Turkish Airlines
Qatar
There are more.

There is a reason airlineawareness started by pilots and successful till the MBA bean counters that win big and loose big due to arrogance.. so talking airline stuff and possibilities of intelligent moves is my lane bud has been for last 15 years.. plus that bit of college on airline finance and management kinda helps
