PBS Question

Having a PBS brain freeze and wondering if any gurus on here can help me out before the call center opens on the 8th. I usually bid reserve and often use the “else start next” function. However we have some interesting layovers for February that might entice me to the dark side of bidding a line. Thing is, if I don’t get it I’d rather have reserve. I figured it would be simple with else start next but apparently you can only use that with avoid pairings and days off. (No idea why that is but the button doesn’t show up for me under award pairings).

Is there a backdoor way to tell the system I want a certain pairing but if not just give me reserve?

Under the instruction option, select clear schedule and start next.

Thanks Kona, I figured there had to be a way. Though I would have to put in enough other pairings to get into the LCW right? So my bid could look like:

Award pairing xyz (the one I want)
Award HND layovers Limit 2
Clear schedule start next

That way if I don’t get the pairing I want, 2 HND trips aren’t enough to get to the LCW so it would start over at my next bid group? On a side note anyone know the reason why you can’t have else start next with an award pairing? Seems odd we can do it with avoid but not with award.

Yes, that’s what I do. I build 2-3 bid groups of 8-10 trips that I wouldn’t mind flying. I end the bid group with “clear schedule” and either put in a reserve bid or a flying bid that doesn’t end. Not sure about the “else start next “ question.

Awesome thanks for the help.

Speaking of PBS:

What does "14SV" mean? It's blocked off on my calendar for Feb.

Originally was a week vacation, followed by another week vacation. Is this 2 concurrent vacation weeks or some kind of block off for expected training?

(Currently NQAT)

Thank you, internet.

Not 100 percent sure but I think SV is secondary vacation with 14 being the amount of days.

I think you're probably right. Ugh. More time off (never thought I'd complain about that)

Thanks.

14SV is secondary vacation that is worth 3:45 per day. The 14 indicates that it's part of your first 14 days of vacation.
