Rally ending, Sharecare new health app

Heads up if it isn't clear yet, our Rally program is ending so you need to spend your 'coins' by the of end of March if you want to take advantage of that.

Also, I'm concerned about the new Sharecare app that was in part developed by Dr. Oz, who loves to peddle pseudoscience. I wrote HR & ALPA and asked why we are choosing to partner with this service and if we've researched the validity of the service. Might look into it yourself and ask some questions as needed. Sharecare has also been criticized for driving answers toward paid sponsors as well. Not convinced this is the best service for us to utilize to 'earn' our HSA bucks.

But if you get your Chakra adjusted and use essential oils, you get $300.

...as long as you don’t spring for the reduced tuition boarding school “perk”.

The bigger issue of sharecare is that HSA rewards are much more dependant on enrolling in "programs" that essentially "track" you regularly. Not a fan. Much more difficult to accumulate rewards.

Sadly that ship sailed long ago. I fought this battle at my previous shop when they switched from a 'give' to suddenly make us jump through hoops for the same money. Not a fan.

I noticed the same thing too. Kinda sucks. However, you can still get a lot from doing simple things (family coverage):

  • $300: Complete the survey
    • Takes about 10-15 minutes, and nothing says you have to be truthful on it. You just have to complete it.
  • $50: Sign in to ShareCare app
    • Install, deny all permissions, sign in, uninstall. Immediate $50 (as in, I signed into the app and refreshed the webpage...$50. Boom.)
    • Unfortunately, it doesn't work on the iPad, so you can't sign in on our EFB's to keep whatever personal info private. It'd work on a burner phone though.
  • $200: Annual physical
    • Covered by medical insurance and is a good idea anyways.
    • FAA medical doesn't count, but that's always been the case. Your doctor might be able to work it out with you though, so it doesn't hurt to ask
    • Do the next two at the same time
  • $50: Flu shot
    • You were going to do that anyways, right? RIGHT?
  • $400: Biometric screening
    • This one's a bit more invasive, but if you're otherwise healthy it's easy money. Plus they've expanded the options on how to complete this, making it easier to do. I did mine this morning at Quest.

There's $1000 right there, plus the full $750 for your spouse, plus $250 if you have a child. $2000 for <30 minutes on an overnight and one doctor's visit with two needle pokes for each of you. Plus if you 're doing other health related things anyways, you can get money for them (telehealth appointment, dermatologist appointment, colonoscopy, COVID testing, to name a few).

I've always gotten my $200 for my physical within a week or so of submitting my new FAA medical.

So how do we get the "coins" in our Rally account?

Also, what do they mean by "coins?"

Denny Crane 01-12-2021 02:09 PM

Yeah......where do you check your Rally account?

Denny

Here you go...

https://accounts.werally.com/login

We got 'coins' for such things as doing the rewards program and if you downloaded the app and 'checked in' for eating well, working out, etc. If you don't have many points/coins might not be worth much but there are discounts on outdoor goods for instance and you can use them for entering drawings to win stuff. Buddy of mine used his points to get 30% a fancy Garmin GPS watch, so not entirely useless.

Thanks!

Denny

I tried to redeem Rally points for $75 off disney tickets. Turns out it was like $10 off and only for Florida residents. Not impressed. They refunded the “coins”.

You can actually use those points? Learn something new everyday.

All they do is offer discounts on merchandise. If you were already going to buy said merchandise anyway (expensive Garmin GPS watch) then the discount would be worthwhile. Otherwise the "coins" aren't worth much.

I went to the Rally site to use my unused coins. Nothing was available, other than some discounts that I'm sure I could find on a deal site in 30 seconds. I ended up donating my coins to something. Better than letting them disappear.

I wasn’t aware that was an option. I’ll have to look into doing that.

GeneralLee 01-14-2021 09:23 AM

Search for “Sharecare” on DLnet . There is a page that can direct you to the info

Sharecare gives marketers a say in the content. "How do I prevent wrinkles?" a user may ask. Alongside answers from celeb doctors like Oz and Dr. Dean Ornish will be expert advice from big companies, most with health or beauty brands.

Unilever's skincare line Dove is the first brand to sign on with Sharecare's "pay-per-perspective" model, a fancy term for a sponsorship that allows companies to respond to users on the site. For around $3 million for a year-long deal, Dove will also have direct access to users who set up profile pages, similar to those seen on Facebook, and Sharecare will give it and other sponsors data about how long users are reading their answers and which ones they like best.

WebMD Founder Matches Marketers With Consumers Who Have Health Concerns
Sharecare: based in Atlanta, GA. Ahh now it makes sense.
