If my math and interpretation of the last few AEs serve me right, there should be about 120ish Captains who have reinstatement rights who fall within the 6 bid period window.

They were displaced in the MOAD like everyone else, but converted later. With each passing months (bid periods) there are less of them.

Didn't know it was based on conversion. Thanks

I’m one of them. Feb 1 conversion from the MOAD, ATL 717A->B.

To break in here with some help: black and white language, past practice, intent of the negotiation. If you have the black and white, but the union (and really the pilots) dont enforce the language, it might as well not exist. If the black and white is there but the intent from negotiation wasnt exactly what you think it says, then it is the intent that will be enforced. These are all 30000ft concepts

the truth is, theres a past practice of the company doing what they want. They violate the contract, mostly to test our language (and sometimes on accident), and if no pilot reports it and the union isn't keeping a weathered eye, by the time someone speaks up its too late. Its especially too late when some volunteer goes rogue and doesnt wanna deal with the issue because they dont care, the war is over and we never fired a shot.
  • If theres a question, ask the union formally in writing, not the company.
  • If you volunteer because you think its a good gig, quit. You should be beat with a tire iron but that illegal apparently.
  • If you're a hard worker with a high degree of moral character with a working brain, volunteer.
  • Vote in reps that share the vision of a tight contract with tight enforced language. Our contract enforcement team should be one room apart from the MEC and lawyers in the office, with negotiations on the other office. Everyone should be discussing once a week what the hell each other are seeing out there and looking for trends and systemic problems.
  • If we arent filing a formal grievance once a month you're probably not looking hard enough as a union. No ****ing deals or breaks for the company. Fly the God damn contract.

Good reps are good, but the best and brightest need to volunteer not running for elections. Truth is, a lot of us good with excel and other minutia aren't going to win popularity contests. Lot of the best guys i worked with were jerks sometimes and were kept around because they were too smart to not be given a voice by the elected reps. Previous company i volunteered plenty, i will here again i imagine but it'll be years before i commit to that much work again. Besides, i meet a lot of smart people here who seem like they arent trying to run a scam to get out of working. Giving up the green slips and easy job should be a rotation. Learn, get good, teach someone else, go back to easy life. It shouldnt be the same couple guys always volunteering.
