Prepare Yourselves... 2021 AEs

I went from 7ER B to 320 A. I’d never flown an Airbus, and I’d spent 13 of my 16 years here in the right seat (the other 3 on furlough). My biggest concern was that I’d been in the right seat for so long, and then to learn a completely new way of thinking about aeronautics. As it turned out, and I’d argue my transition, considering the length of time I’d spent in the right seat would be a challenge to most mortals, wasn’t a problem at all. As someone recently mentioned regarding the Airbus, the 200 series with the FMS and automation training, was the toughest part for me. I’d get back to the Holiday inn VA Ave, check for bullet holes in my clothes, and then try to remember what we learned that day. The sad part of the training is there isn’t any study aids to review for “direct to, radial inbound to retain crossing constraints” type operations. Not even a hand out. The only thing you can do is fire up the computer with the flash drive...there is a simulator on there that you can practice FMS stuff, but it’s incredibly tedious. But the instructors are great, and every day you just go in and do what they ask, and do it again the next day. By the 2nd hour or the first sim in the 300 series, I felt comfortable flying the airplane. If I made it through without any overtime, anyone can do it. Good luck with your decision. It’s a great job, and I hope I’ve done a good job becoming an amalgamation of all the great Captains I’ve learned from over the years.

I'm counting 38 conversions from DTW330B since November and that number didn't include those that converted to 330A or DTW320A. I figure those guys aren't coming back. Not sure how many of the remaining 38 conversions were a MD from the MOAD. Some guys bid off on subsequent bids. I'm sticking with 30 +\-reinstatement's on DTW 330B. With all the movement, especially 69 DTW 320A posters, in guessing reinstate 30 and AE in another 20-30 due to people bidding off the category.

Does anyone know the plan for 220 in SLC for crews, it was looking to be a good option to get there first but now it appears SEA base will come at the cost of SLC crews and won't be backfilled? With 320 due for more fleet growth over the next 2 years than 220 I wonder if I've made a mistake. Or 73N seems junior as well.

As a low 7000s, currently on the NYC 7ER B, ex 717 A with no reinstatement rights (obviously), I think I have a better chance to get SEA 73N A than NYC 73N A (more openings in SEA and less reinstatements) . The irony is that I live on the North Eastern Seaboard. I wonder if I should bid it in the hopes I may slide back to NYC on a future bid, or just stick to the 220 A and guarantee a NYC spot, but with lower pay, for 2 years. I am perfectly happy being bottom reserve, but in NYC. The 7ER A is a stretch, but it's on my bid. What do you think (sorry for making this about me but it is bothering me a bit)?
Thanks!
(I guess my APC name is kinda giving away where I live. lol)

I think you will absolutely be able to get nyc 73n a. And if not, nyc 320a. 31 765a and 71 7era spots will create a lot of movement from people already on those planes.

The 62 330 A vacancies alone in NYC would create enough movement on their own to get a 73A. Add in the seats bugman mentioned and it’s a slam dunk. Good luck!
