Rumor alert

I have heard this rumor from 2 captains recently.......don’t shoot the messenger.

Apparently our new MEC chairman, in conjunction with the ATL reps, is planning to drop all scope grievances in a show of goodwill to the company as we head into negotiations as the pandemic comes under control and travel begins to return.

FangsF15 01-16-2021 08:18 AM

If that is true, they will be recalled immediately. The uproar will be furious.

If...

Is this “The Great Reset” everyone in PTC is talking about?

PilotWombat 01-16-2021 08:45 AM

Yeah, I'd throw that in the "bull******* until/unless it happens, then there will be hell to pay" category.

I am a very moderate guy. I don’t mind helping the company save money when I can, and I want our company to do well, because it’s in all of our best interest.

Having said that, if they forgive those grievances, that represent willful attempts to completely disregard our scope clause, that a judge has ruled in our favor, I will be very disappointed. That might be enough of a reason to get rid of ALPA and bring in the DPA. I don’t think most of us will receive much money. It will probably go to a few pilots who could have been in a widebody position, but it’s the principal of the whole thing. This will be very disappointing.

After reading the post above, I could see them dropping the grievances, in exchange for more favorable scope language. But it would need to be really good.

This doesn't even pass the smell test. It would be a direct contradiction of his welcome email. And, ATL reps alone don't dictate policy. They would need several other councils to make it stick.

Exactly. Did anyone think to call the ATL reps mentioned in the rumor? My guess is no.

Tip to would-be rumor spreaders and false flag planters: If you are going to concoct some rumors, have at least some basis in reality in how things actually work.

Why shouldn’t we?

Bu posting this here, it’s now a rumor from you. Have you asked the MEC chairman if this is true?

Funny how they are almost always started by someone with a low 2-digit (or less) post count.

Eh, his username is cool enough I’ll give him a pass. Brings me back to the Hawaii days.

All signs are pointing to this being a very lucrative summer for those flying. Thank you management.

That 787 rumour

https://media.uk.norwegian.com/pressreleases/norwegian-to-focus-on-a-strong-european-network-3064682

Maybe these are the 787's floating around in the rumour mill. Norwegian currently has 37 787"s on property.

They’re also RR engines, and we seem to do more and more work on Trents in house (330neo, 350).

Planetrain 01-17-2021 12:37 PM

I would take sweet pleasure in flying any ex Norwegian airframes.

But then the usual crowd wouldn't get to say "we had those on order once," or "can't make money with a 787," or "we were the first buyers...even had the sim at NATCO," every time the see a 787 or even hear the name mentioned.

vs the “usual” crowd that did everything they could to help negate the great things they did have, NRT, Min slots, Asian hub, cargo. You know, things that actually required pilots jobs. Talk about not seeing the forest thru the trees.

Oh, I get it. I just don't need to hear it every single time a 787 or 747 taxis past.

But then you might forget that we once had them on order, and then you wouldn’t be able to tell your FOs the story, and they wouldn’t be able to tell THEIR FOs...

There’s also no money in cargo, and our overhead panels are because of SWA.

Yet by a big margin we hired more pilots than any other airline in the US and perhaps the world in the last decade. Funny how running a financially sound airline creates jobs.

Our merger was more successful than the others, by a landslide.

When were you hired? I’m not sure your “our” is our “our”. Just saying....

Yeah you sure got handed a crap sandwich that has you cashing in $300k+ per year. Are you still going to be complaining about the merger on your retirement flight? On your death bed?

I think he’s talking about something else. Finessed has been throwing bombs over in the American threads and there was some discussion there about whether he was actually a Delta pilot or not. I’d imagine that’s what Big E was referring to.

Not at all. I don’t think Finnessed works for us. He was over on the AA BK thread trolling them and saying he’s a Delta Pilot. I was embarrassed for him and he was making us all look bad. His comments are usually on the AA and AA regional threads and that’s why I don’t think he works for us. (I hope he doesn’t )

No problem. I think he was just dropping a comment here so a search of his posts would lead here.
