Having default flaps, even with incorrect numbers, is a hell of a lot safer than having no flaps at all. This is a good change irrespective of WDR timing

This is 100% correct. Instead of the correct data and flap settings, we are setting the next best thing. The lack of data and a best guess is apparently good enough instead of the correct data. Also why can we not get a runway assignment on CPDLC at every station that uses it. I am getting tired of the runway guessing game on both ends. Rant over. Yes, this procedure is better than what we had but there is a lot of room for improvement but... latency and ATL ramp 2 drives the world. WDR prior to push was a thing ages ago too, we are only 90 degrade away from making that full circle. Happy new/old days are here again.
