The real estate market in AUS is insane right now. When the dust settles after the Tesla factory and the other tech moves into the area, I’m guessing DL will be paying very close attention to what people are doing out of there.

that means rather little with respect to bases, though. We can build a lot of frequency without creating pilot bases

Boston pop./ per capita income: 692,600 / $64,783

Austin pop.: 950,807 / $61,977

In less than 5 years, Austin is going to dwarf Boston. More people. More money. Not having a significant presence in TX is going to leave a mark sooner or later.

you can have a large presence without a pilot base.

Hence we have Boston in its current state. I wouldn't hold my breath. NY and BOS are shadows of their former selves right now and will probably be the slowest on the recovery. Meanwhile, FLA and TX are in full Leeroy Jenkins mode right now.

I agree. MCO and SouthFL airports will be super busy in the near future, we either get in or look from far away.

San Antonio metro with 1.5 million says hi. Less than 60 minute drive. And again, one region is growing. One region is not. Hell, there a better argument for a base in MCO than BOS.

Your analysis is a bit off. Boston proper is quite small geographically. About 1/3 the size of Austin. The greater Boston area however is more like 4 million and about the 12th largest metro area in the country. Austin 2 million...
