As others have mentioned a sleep number bed is basically an adjustable air mattress, and to me it felt like it. Especially if you sleep towards the edge you'll have a tendency to start to roll off since the sides aren't rigid and firm like a regular mattress. I guess if you sleep in the center of your "area" then that isn't as big of an issue. If you have a free trial period then it may be worth it to see if it works for you, but I personally wouldn't use one at home again.

I used to frequently overnight at a Radisson with the sleep number beds back then. Area was fine, hotel was fine, but I hated the beds with a passion. I never thought that I’d start bidding around an overnight simply because of the bed.... but there I was.

I really didn’t sleep well on Raddison Sleep number beds. I think it was mostly anxiety over my number... I think I’m a 35... but what if I’m a 45? I’d toss and turn readjusting, readjusting.

Go and try some memory foam mattress.
Me and my wife decided to go this route with “Split King” position beds. Also with the split king (two twin XL beds), each of you can pick whatever mattress hardness you want. So far, we’ve been with them for 2 years and we haven’t had any issues.

We had a pricey one that had full articulation on both sides. When we moved we ended up getting rid of it and buying a new one. My wife thought it was “good” I didn’t necessarily care for it or find it that comfortable. The biggest issue wasn’t the beds fault, as a king, and with the adjustable, it was just two twin beds stuck together. It left a divide right down the middle which drove me crazy. For what it’s worth though, we gave it to my grandparents and they have really enjoyed it. They also stay well to their own side and never go near the middle so don’t notice. They like that one can sit up and watch tv while the other reads or sleeps etc.
We bought an “avocado” mattress online after a month of research and it’s been the best mattress I’ve owned.
I also don’t work at Delta, so most of this info could be of little to no value.

I'm actually super glad you brought this up to. I've been looking at sleep number to see if itd be the correct choice.
We have tried all sorts of traditional mattresses (with and without pillow top, and memory foam pillow top) as well as the box order memory foam mattresses. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. gets a body shaped divot in about a year. Said divot has me waking up every moment with back pain. Yet in each case, the divot is juuuuuuust under what is required to get it replaced under warranty. I have yet to find a mattress that holds up over time.
Anyways, that's why I was thinking about a sleep number. At the very least, you could blow it back up if you found it sagging (or it wouldn't do it in the first place). I can't possibly be the only person with this problem.

A single friend of mine told me about his memory foam one day. He said it was the best sleep ever but he was getting rid of it. The reason? Well, it seems it’s great for sleeping but not so much for the 🙄 extracurriculars. I never would have thought of it but he said you just kind of sink into the foam and don’t get any bounce back.
