I'm not going to go into depth but there's nothing generous behind profit sharing. It was negotiated by the pilots. The company decided it was cheaper to give to everyone else versus having more unions on property.

All true but I'm still proud we have it. The generosity is a matter of perspective for the non-cons.

(....1000 metric tonnes of CO2 over the lifecycle) The carbon footprint of Delta prior to the pandemic was ~19,000,000 metric tonnes of CO2 per year.

Will this put more money in your pocket? If not, then why do you even care?

Not questioning the number but where does it come from? Our customers’ footprints, without them ours would be zero. This contract accounts for the that and funds innovation. There will be many more and before long this will be a standard in corporate travel arrangements.

you don’t care about anything but money? That seems strange

Personally, I can’t imagine ever being ‘proud’ of a faceless, massive corporation. They don’t actually care about this garbage. The only reason any large corporate entity does anything is because they see some monetary benefit from it. If you haven’t found it, you probably haven’t looked hard enough yet.

Nobody in the C-suite does anything out of the goodness of their hearts, and to believe otherwise is foolish (in my opinion).

I’m HAPPY we have profit sharing, but am I proud of the COMPANY that we have it? Hell no! The pilots who came before me negotiated it, and the C-suite would bloodsuck it back faster than the speed of light if they could. Proud of the company? Hah. Proud of some of the employees, maybe (but nobody in the C-suite).

And with all that said, I'm proud of the union for my profit sharing and going after the faceless corporation violating our contract. I dont know much about carbon offsets, im not going to read about it or watch a video. Heres to a giant profit sharing check next year.

You're proud of that fact we have profit sharing??!!!!

This is what the VEOP has done... left a generation of pilots who have no idea what we gave up to get profit sharing. You....along with the non contract folks think the company gives it to us in their infinite generosity.

The fact is that I gave up 46% of my pay rates to get profit sharing. I'd like you to imagine that your pay was cut the same amount tomorrow and then tell me how proud you are

I agree with you. I wasn't even here when profit sharing was negotiated, but his comments ****ed me off. The company has tried to reduce profit sharing every contract negotiation since I've been here and been successful 2 out of the 3 contracts I've seen signed. Hell one of them we, gave up some profit sharing for a 2 percent raise for one year. The following year our rates were bumped up due to actually being behind United and American's pay rates. ALPA did such a good job negotiating rates that the me-too clause kicked in. The 2011 contract really was a bad contract.
