I strongly disagree with ALPA putting a rep in scheduling to assist. Our MEC Chairman spins it to look good for Delta pilots, but it is not good. I have heard scheduling reps mention this in the past and say scheduling is wasting so much money thru scheduling errors. These errors result in pilots being paid with no flying obligation when they are caught by the pilot. So basically, ALPA is going to help scheduling do their job and take money from pilots. This is not a good trend or road to head down in my opinion. Obviously, we have another mgmt rep as our MEC Chairman now ..

The “millions” in penalties could be multi millions in Green Slips on rotations that were awarded illegally previously. Or gasp, maybe they realize that dealing with crew schedules in 2021 with tech and staffing models from the 80-90s is dumb. We get better tools to work our schedule and the hire more pilots. But that too would cut down on you illegal reroute pay.
If you don’t agree with the chairman this was a wild swing and a miss.

The contract is fully enforced when they are caught making a scheduling mistake. I have been involved in several illegal reroutes in the past, and they result in thousands of dollars of extra pay. Like I said ALPA should focus on catching these scheduling mistakes instead of assisting mgmt to prevent the mistakes. I'm sure mgmt is all for ALPA assisting them. It will save them millions of dollars a year. They probably talk to each other and say can you believe ALPA is willing to do this for us..
I’ve been on the scheduling committee a little over two years now...this is a much needed thing for the pilot group. You are in the vast minority on this...95%+ of the pilots I interact with would rather have the contract followed in the first place.
Actually, the company has been against putting one of us over there for years. We’ve been asking a long time...

I’ve spent enough hours of my life running down pay errors and triple-checking scheduling’s work to find a rare Easter egg. No way it was worth even the thousands of dollars of errors I have uncovered. I’m happy to do my job per the contract and be paid the same way.

You don't really think they are going to follow the contract just because ALPA is assisting them do you? They will use ALPA to save money when convenient and then they will still violate when necessary to cover trips.. You don't see them complying with scope do you? Also, I'd say only about 80% or so of illegal reroutes are even caught now. Most of the time pilots don't even realize they have been illegally rerouted.

can they also get somebody to fix the freaking lack of commutability in NYC 320A. 3 years of requesting to get back to commutable schedules and we've achieved 3% commutability. Ridiculous. Previously we had 96% in the largest commuter base and now we are at 3...this is an act of commission and so far ALPA has been completely absent, unable, or unwilling to fix this crap fest we get every month in New York. If you can't fix anything, ALPA should get out of the way for someone that can. Also...while I'm ranting...I could give 2 sh$t$ about the relationship between ALPA and Mgt. I quite frankly prefer the antagonistic approach vice the bend over and take it approach. At least you fought your way into submission.
