Isn't the E period just a give for us affected pilots? I don't think that was a permanent change to the PWA in regards to new hires. Unless that's something we give up in the future. Surely is nice to finally see the company admit we need our pilots back like yesterday. We all knew this was going to happen, you could have predicted this a mile away. And that accounts for even a moderate rebound in travel and we pretty much have to hire. If we have a full rebound.... Well.... Then it will sure be crazy times. Lots of green slips I reckon.

AA hires were 939 in 2018, as a point of reference.

Huh interesting. Can't remember for me because day I was going to sims the bid got cancelled. I thought I remember they said a few weeks ago the E periods they could train 135/month and possibly more if more sims pop up. I don't feel it's entirely unrealistic to get 1700 by end of October.. Especially those who won't need a full course and going back to their old fleets.

I went back and found my NH training award, I had multiple E period sims on it.

There used to be only five periods a day, E's being somewhat in the middle of the night. And for initial qual only new hires could be assigned them. In 2018 or thereabouts, the sim schedule was revamped to six periods in a day. E periods moved up to an earlier time. F is the new E, a 0100 brief time. Assigned piltots can be sent to E's, so long as they are out of the building by 1 am. Which essentially limits them to a two hour sim. The requal sim syllabuses have been revamped to allow for this, essentially doubles the length of the course--same total time in sim.
