I gotta tell you pilots, as a dispatch guy, this blows. The sad part is, is that he is sliding in an essentially auditioning for the SVP role because our guy will be retiring in the next year or two. The memo let us know he's a pilot on the 75/76...not surprisingly, it was pretty ambiguous - makes it seem like he was hired in as a pilot. He'll only be in charge of Flight Control at first so when you call for more fuel, have some pity on us dispatchers.
BS is a good guy and a genuine all round good person, you guys are lucky to have him. Whatever else they gave him will turn out well

Just finished a ski trip with some buddies. One is a SWA pilot. Showed him various examples of our schedules. He was blown away and said what he saw was worse than SWA.
”is the three back to back ground times under eleven hours?” “Is that a redeye with a min ground time followed by a late night flights?” “Is that a multiple four leg day trip?” “Is that three near max days in a row with minimum ground times?” Etc..etc...
it’s unfortunate that Delta has come to view the FAA mandated minimums and maximums as something to try to push to the limits and get around as opposed to safety limits that shouldn’t be approached.
I think during the next contract negotiation session we should start it at 10 pm, have them meet for 8 hours, then have 10 off to show back up to do it again. Four or five days of that would be good for them. Food? You have one hour to try to find food during the break. Nothing open? Too bad. Otherwise here’s a mini-bottle of water for you and some goldfish to eat. Bathroom breaks? I don’t think so. Gotta wait for the FAs to agree to let you out.
Rant over....

Agree 100%. It will be a long struggle to ever get the QOL back on our domestic side. If ever....
